I live in New York State, (Westchester County.) It took me 6 months to get my handgun lic. I had to submit 4 affidavits from NY residents stating that I was not crazy. In addition they wanted me to get a receipt from a store in Colorado for the handgun I inherited from my father who passed away in 2000. He purchased it from a pawn shot in 1946. The only easy thing about owning a handgun is how easy it is to LOSE your right to own one. All that has to happen is your neighbor or anyone else goes down to the police station and files a complaint against you saying that you threatened him with violence. No proof, no questions asked. You just lose your right to own one on the spot. They take away your guns (all of them) and even if the charges are dropped you DON’T get your handguns back. A state run commission has to review your case and determine that you are not a risk to public safety. I had to go throught this, after the charges were dropped, it took me a year and a half to get my firearms back. It cost me about $10,000. in legal fees to do it and I had to threaten a lawsuit. New York State is run by fascists and criminals. BELIEVE IT.
