It looks like we
won on a national level but lost in NY State.
Big NYC anti-gun Democrats and Unions spent tens of thousands
of dollars in Orange County to elect people who would have represent
NY City and the Unions instead of Orange County in Albany.
They all lost.

State Dems missed twice
By John Milgrim, Ottaway News Service, 12/2/04

Albany – The state's major political parties set their
sights on Orange County this election season, spending well
above the norm trying to capture two Assembly seats.
State Democratic and Republican officials believed the Assembly
seats held by Republicans Nancy Calhoun and Howard Mills were
up for grabs, and they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars
trying to win them. For both political committees, the two
races ranked among their 10 most expensive Assembly races
in the state.
The Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee, for example, spent
$156,825 on Dennis Tracey's unsuccessful bid to unseat Calhoun,
R-Blooming Grove, in the 96th District. For DACC, that was
the 10th most expensive race among the 39 the committee spent
money on, according to campaign finance reports filed with
the state Board of Elections.
The Republican Assembly Campaign Committee, which has less
money than DACC, spent $47,600 defending Calhoun's seat, and
exceeded that figure in eight other races.
Calhoun easily won with 29,640 votes compared to Tracey's
20,114, according to unofficial results.
DACC, meanwhile, spent far less on candidate Bonnie Kraham's
bid for the 97th District seat, which was open because of
Mills' unsuccessful run for the U.S. Senate.
Kraham said campaign polls showed her beating Republican Annie
Rabbitt, so more money could have made a difference.
DACC spent $41,460 on Kraham's behalf while RACC spent $92,247
on Rabbitt.
"It makes no sense to me why more resources weren't put
into my campaign," said Kraham, who received 22,955 votes
to Rabbitt's 23,514. "I'm appreciative of what they gave
me, but I would have loved a lot more."
Assemblyman Ron Canestrari, an Albany Democrat and DACC chairman,
said the committee didn't agree that more money would have
brought Kraham over the top.
"We'd always like more [seats] but we think our decisions
are well thought out, and generally, we had a very successful
election," he said.
Throughout the campaigns, DACC spent about $3.9 million to
give Democrats a net gain of one seat for a 104-46 majority.
RACC spent $1.4 million on candidate campaigns, but was unable
to defeat a single incumbent Democrat. |

(Please note that George Soros is putting money in campaigns
in NY State and trying, with the help of Assembly Dictator
Sheldon Silver to eliminate all Republicans in the NY Assembly.
We don't need to reward the democrats and the NYC money that
they are spending in Orange County to push this state even
more to the left. Democrats have given tens of thousands of
NYC/Soros dollars in order to try to take over all the Assembly
seats in upstate NY.)

Shotgun Kerry
Co-Sponsered To Ban Is Given As A Gift
- A bill known as the 'Assault Weapons Ban and
Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2003 (S. 1431)'
is co-sponsored by Democrat presidential candidate
John Kerry. Under the bill, semi-automatic shotguns
would be banned as an 'assault weapon.'
- At a Labor Day rally, Kerry received and accepted
a Remington model 11-87, which is a semi-automatic
shotgun, from a labor union representative. The
gun is used to for hunting and in recreational shooting.
Lawrence Keane, senior VP and general counsel of
the National Shooting Sports Foundation, said groups
point out that Kerry makes himself out to be an
avid hunter, which does not square up with his anti-gun
votes as a US Senator.

Famous Kerry quotes
DEER HUNTING
Journal
Sentinel Inc Kerry
was also asked about gun issues in the interview.
He said the gun regulations now in place are for the
most part "pretty reasonable."...
After his successful round of
trapshooting Saturday (Kerry hit 17 of 25 targets),
Kerry told a reporter he would rather have been hunting.
He was asked in the
interview Sunday what kind of hunting he preferred.
"Probably
I'd have to say deer. It's tough, depending on where
you are," said Kerry.
"I go out with
my trusty 12-gauge double-barrel, crawl around on
my stomach. I track and move and decoy and play games
and try to outsmart them. You know, you kind of play
the wind. That's hunting," said
Kerry, whose manner was relaxed as he spoke on the
final day of an excursion along the scenic upper Mississippi
that he seemed to take some relish in.
DOVE HUNTING
Washington Post, June 1, 2003, On dove hunting:
"You clean them. Let them hang...You might eat
it at a picnic, cold roasted."

Senator John Kerry has consistently supported sensible
gun laws throughout his career in public service.
As a prosecutor and as a legislator he has been a
leader, working with law enforcement officials on
efforts to reduce gun violence. As a hunter and a
war hero, Senator Kerry knows that sportsmen do not
need military-style assault weapons, and that measures
to keep guns away from criminals, terrorists and children
are just common sense.
“We urge Americans
who care deeply about reducing gun violence in our
nation to vote for Senator John Kerry. |
