First, understand that IT IS UP TO YOU to keep this from happening, not the NRA, NYSRPA, SCOPE or any other group . YOU have to make the phone call, send the postcard or letter, meet with and talk to everyone in office or connected with politics and let them know about the law and that you do not like it. It is up to YOU to make sure that you tell everyone that you know about this law, why they should be against it and urge them to help you and all gun owners get the word out and fight this bill.
(Everyone that I have talked to has told me that postcards are better than Petitions but when we know that we are going to meet with someone, it does not hurt to have a handfull of petitions.) |

(It looks odd but it prints OK.)IN PART:
We strongly oppose Gov. George Pataki’s budget proposal S6056/A9556. Implementation of the proposed changes in New York Penal law Section 400.00, will severely impact everyone who has been issued a license that is good “until revoked” and all who apply for a license in the future.
We object to the new $100 state fee and the provision that allows for counties to charge an unlimited fee. (Currently Nassau charges $200, NY City plans to charge $340 however nothing in the law will prevent counties from charging $1,000 or more.) We object that the 5-year license recertification that must be approved “BY THE LICENSING OFFICER”. We object that thousands of current license holders must be process in just a few months, something no county in NY is capable of doing. We object that no provision is included that mandates that each county contact each license holder to notify them of the provisions of the new law. ...PETITION 2 IS IN *.DOC FORMAT AND CAN BE PRINTED USING MS WORD
IN PART:
Down with King George’s bills S6056 and A9556 to reduce our second amendment civil rights and balance the budget on the backs of law abiding gun owners.
We will not have our right to bear arms taken away by politicians in favor of unfair permit fees and excessive administration. This is nothing more then an attempt to abridge our civil rights by making their pursuit too expensive and administratively cumbersome. After the additional administrative fees that the counties will pass along is added, for a total of $250, plus amendments at $30/gun, the average handgun owner will be paying 65 times what he pays now. It is pistols now but soon it will be rifles and shotguns. ...
