ORANGE COUNTY PISTOL LEAGUE
22 CAL.
STARTS OCTOBER
The league will start on Tuesday in October and will run on every
other Tuesday except for the normal holiday breaks. Relays begin
at 3:00 PM and start on the hour with the last relay at 8:00 PM.
The league is a sanctioned NRA match
for classification and competition. All shooters are welcome. The
league consist of teams from the area clubs with the top 4 scores
fired form each team being their entry for the match. Even if you
are not a club member, the league will get you a spot and all of
your scores will count for awards. If you do not have an NRA classification
you will get one from your scores fired, and become a classified
competitor.
All conventional NRA pistol rules
will apply. The course if fired in .22 cal only with a one hand
hold.
There are 12 matches total of which
you must post scores for 10 matches to be eligible for awards. More
than one match may be fired per night but only the first score is
toward the team totals. Any second matches
count toward your own score. You do not have to shoot every week.
If you can not shoot one week and you know about it in advance you
can "shoot ahead" or you can wait and shoot a "make
up."
If you are a new shooter please feel
free to call Dennis Serpi at Master Class before the league begins.
He is more than willing to go over the rules and course of fire
with you. And don't worry about your skill lever, low score for
last year was a 414 or 65% average for the year. Cost for the 12
matches with registration of scores is $145. |
The Orange County Pistol League is a 22
Caliber Pistol League that uses the NRA Gallery Course of fire shot at
50 feet and it is shot twice for a total of 60 rounds. The League
is held at in Monroe at Master Class and it takes about a hour to shoot
and score. Master Class
is equipped with turning targets.
SLOW FIRE
The Slow Fire section consist of 10 rounds in 10 minutes.
It is shot twice for a total of 20 rounds with the targets being changed
after the first 10 shots.
Commands, (given by the Range Safety Officer,
RSO):
- This is the Slow Fire section of the NRA Gallery course.
With 10 rounds LOAD. (RSO waits for firearms to be loaded.)
- Is the line ready? (Wait 3 seconds)
- The line is ready. (Wait 3 seconds)
- Ready on the right? (RSO looks to the right side of the
line.) (Wait 3 seconds)
- Ready on the left? (RSO looks to the left side of the
line.) (Wait 3 seconds)
- Ready on the firing line. (Wait 3 seconds)
- Commence firing, you have 10 Minutes

The Timed Fire section consist of two strings of 5 rounds in 20 seconds
each for a total of 10 rounds. It is shot twice for a total of 20
rounds with the targets being changed after the first 10 shots.

GENERAL RULES
- Any 22 caliber hand gun can be used. Most people
use semi-auto with a red dot sight but some people who can shoot just
as well with iron sights.
- If you are on the line and have a failure to fire for
any reason, raise your had so that a safety officer can inspect your
gun. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR GUN OR TRY TO UNLOAD IT! KEEP THE
GUN POINTED DOWN RANGE! If the problem was caused by your ammo
or gun the SO can allow your alibi. You are allowed 2 alibis.
If you touch your gun or try to clear it, your alibi will not be allowed.
- If your alibi is allowed, you will write the number
of shots that you fired on the target and inform the RSO. You
will fire an additional 5 rounds in an "ALIBI RUN." When the target
is scored, the same number of shots in excess of 10 rounds will be deducted
from your score starting with the highest scores. (You get 2 shots
off and are allowed an alibi. Your target has 12 holes; 5 in the
10 ring and 7 in the 9 ring. The 2 highest scores will be deducted
leaving you with 3 in the 10 ring and 7 in the 9 ring for a total score
of 93 for the target.
- You provide all of your own ammo.
