Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois won
in the Republican primary against Tom Carton .
Sheriff DuBois will be running for his second turn. The retired Middletown
police lieutenant won his first primary in 2002 against the former
Sheriff Frank Bigger. Sheriff DuBois is credited with turning the Orange
County Sheriff Department around.
A retired New York City police
sergeant, Tom Carton who lives in Monroe, ran a good race but could not
get any traction.
Master Class was featured in the Blue Press October 2006 issue's "Letter to the Editor," that highlighted Master Class's service and support for Dillion Reloading machines.
Dear Mr. Dillon,
I recently purchased a Dillon RL 550B
from Master Class Shooters Supply in Monroe, NY and was very surprised
and the level of service and training this supplier provided for the
Dillon products.
Equally impressive was their after-sales support
and willingness to show me what I was doing wrong and the required corrective
actions.
It is very rare to find people who are so professional
and competent these days. Equally rare is the proactive customer service they
provide after the sale. I found your products to be very fine, as are the people
at Master Class.

The Department of Environmental Conservation
has released the draft form of the long-awaited management plan for the
6,700 acres of open space blueprint that aims to increase public access
to Stewart, and protect wildlife with $3 million in state money.
Two public meetings will be held Oct. 26
at the Town of New Windsor Community Center to discuss the draft UMP. For
copies of the report, contact the DEC at 256-3082.
The Orange County 22 Cal Pistol
League will start on Tuesday October 3rd and will run on every
other Tuesday except for the normal holiday breaks. Relays begin at 3:00
PM and start on the hour with the last relay at 8:00 PM.
The league is a sanctioned NRA match for
classification and competition. All shooters are welcome. The league consist
of teams made up from the area clubs with the top 4 scores fired form
each team being their entry for the match. Teams have between 4 and 10
members. Even if you are not a club member, the league will get you a
spot and all of your scores will count for awards. If you do not have
an NRA classification you will get one from your scores fired, and become
a classified competitor.
All conventional NRA pistol rules will apply.
The course if fired in .22 cal only with a one hand hold.
There are 12 matches total of which you
must post scores for 10 matches to be eligible for awards. More than one
match may be fired per night but only the first score is toward the team
totals. Any second matches count toward your own score. You do not have
to shoot every week. If you can not shoot one week and you know about
it in advance you can "shoot ahead" or you can wait and shoot
a "make up."
If you are a new shooter please feel free
to call Dennis Serpi at Master Class before the league begins. He is more
than willing to go over the rules and course of fire with you. Cost for
the 12 matches with registration of scores is $145.
On Saturday September 23rd at the Shawangunk
Fish & Game Club trap shooters over 55 meet to take
part in the Senior Games Trap Shooting. For $10 to register for the games
and $3 for the trap shoot for a total of $13 you got 75 birds
and free ammo and a hot meal. The day started off with a lot of rain
but it had quit raining by the time we started shooting. Almost 50 people
were registered but about 20 were no shows we think because of the weather.
We all had a lot of fun and look forward to next year.
Not all of the shooters were "pros" with many people
like me who ranged from 13 to 18 birds a round and some were first time shooters.

Elections are only a few days away and it is important that you vote. Being in NY it is hard to get to find the motivation to vote but is very important this year. The Anti-gun forces are hoping that we will stay home and that Spitzer, Cuomo and Hillary will win in a landslide and that will have a mandate to pass their radical anti-gun agenda. All Federal House positions are up for election and the anti-gun forces are hoping that you stay home and that Spitzer, Cuomo and Hillary's coat tails will carry some of the anti-gun into office and help the Dems. take over the House of Representatives. A Camden, NJ court has ruled (as all or almost all courts have) that the 911 service cannot be sued for failure to respond to a call. The family of a kidnap/murder victim sued, over failure of 911 and police to respond to a call from a witness of the kidnapping. Here's some detail: "According to investigators, the caller telephoned police from his car in the PATCO lot to say that he saw a woman struggling with two men. The caller, whom police would not identify, said a woman was screaming as she was being dragged into a car. The man followed the abductors' car through the parking lot and then lost sight of it, investigators said. All the while he was on the phone with police dispatch, they said. |
