Getting a Pistol License
or Handgun License in New York City is hard but not impossible. It will
cost more than it should and take longer than it should but if you want
one and fill out all of the paperwork correctly and do not have any
problems in your background then you should be able to get one. These

ranges and stores to get the information that you need to know.

The Highpower Sport is long range shooting using standard issue U.S.
service rifle, such as an M1 Garand, M14 (M1A civilian), or AR-15.
The term "Highpower" does
not refer to rifles that are unusually powerful but was originally
used
to distinguish
between
smallbore
(.22
rimfire) and centerfire events. Today, Highpower events are modeled
after a course of fire once given to U.S. soldiers. This includes firing
from the offhand (standing) and sitting positions at 200 yards and
the prone positions at 300 and 600 yards. Training classes are given
twice a year to qualify you to buy military surplus rifles at a discount
from the CMP Program. |

Our matches combine elements of IPSC, the Bianchi Cup, and the Steel
Challenge into demanding competition exclusively for revolvers. Scoring
is based on total time (no hit factors, faster is better), so match results
can be easily calculated by hand. Poor hits or misses simply add time to
a shooters score. Many of our local matches classify shooters using the
Lewis scoring system, a system that classifies a shooter based on his performance
in a match, so first time shooters can easily be ranked against experienced
competitors. |

It is much more fun to shoot them off a table than it is to knock them
down with a 50 lb ball. Almost all ranges have pin matches several
times a year. Anyone can shoot with just about any gun starting with
a 22 on up. |

They look a lot bigger when they are not so far away. The first
time that my wife saw a flyer for a silhouette shoot she got real mad at
me and told me that I could not go and that I was a horrible person for
shooting those chickens, pigs, turkeys and rams. |

matches, five of which are shot at the Olympic Games and also at Club,
State and National Championship levels. The Olympic matches are Rapid Fire,

other ISSF events are Standard Pistol and Center Fire. The Center
