Orange County has several points of historical interest, many going back to the revolution. In Orange County it is true that "George Washington slept here." I have listed information about some of the places where you can go and see some of the history and even take part in some of the activities. I have linked those sites that have web sites.
The most well know location historical location in Orange County. On the grounds you can find cannons captured during various wars. You can even see an A-bomb artillery round. Walk the grounds that Eisenhower, Patton and other famous leaders and heroes have walked. Visit the gravesite of White who was killed in the Apollo fire on the launching pad. Among the activities available are Plays and Concerts in the wonderful Eisenhower Hall. They also have Summer Outdoors Concerts that end with the full band playing 1812 with fireworks over the Hudson River, a battery of cannons going off with the music and all of the bells of the many chapels ringing at the end.
